About Chef Wang

Chef Wang is a szechuan in New Hyde Park, New York. It is listed at 1902 Jericho Tpke, New Hyde Park, NY 11040, which places it among the local businesses of New Hyde Park that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Google also lists it under asian restaurant, chinese restaurant, restaurant, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in New Hyde Park; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in New York are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.

Hours are published for 2 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11:30 AM–11 PM. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (516) 354-2858. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, chefwangnyp.com.

Its Google rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 912 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

New Hyde Park is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and New Hyde Park follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I found the food here to be average at best. There are so many better choices available. The rice was wet and lacking in any real flavor. Really unimpressive cuisine. The worse part was the service…horrible. After we were seated I had to get up and ask the host to get us a server after letting us sit there for over 15 minutes. When someone finally showed they were abrupt and rude.Won’t be going back. I find eating amongst arrogance is not very delectable.

Traditional Sichuan Cooking! Not your everyday American Style Chinese food. Plates are meant to be shared. Great place to be adventurous and try something new, while you can still find traditional meat, veggie, seafood, rice, and noodle dishes anyone can enjoy. Great place for spicy food, but also plenty of choices for more reserved palates. Great for a date, business, or large family gathering or party.. Enjoy!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Been dining at Chef Wong for years and can’t believe I’m just now writing this—an absolute gem. Our go-to classics never miss: Chengdu fish, soup dumplings, twice-cooked pork belly, and their fried rice/noodles—all consistently flavorful and perfectly executed. Service is always attentive, and I really appreciate the old-school white tablecloth atmosphere—it gives the place a timeless, elevated feel. Highly recommend—this spot has been a staple for us for a reason.

If you want more quality Chinese food in this area, look no further than this spot right here. Very high quality dishes. Did take out but would have done sit down.

Sichuan Cuisine Gem 👍 Outside doesn’t look like much and I have driven by many times without giving the place a 2nd glance. Inside speaks differently as the Koi pond indicates. The venue is spacious & comfortable. I was an invited guest for dinner after attending a private event with Lang Lang the renowned pianist. His father joined us for dinner. 👏👏 I can’t really describe the dishes since I did not peruse the menu. But I did enjoy each one with a fervor. However, the fish dish did have a pork sauce I believe. Drinks are inexpensive so I’m surprised the bar isn’t packed. 10/25/24 3rd time dining here in less than a month. The food is really marvelous. Venue can probably use some new upgrades & decor. 1/9/25. Ordered take out. Food was wonderful as usual. 👍 3/29/26 Good dinner
